To write, or not to write? That is the question. Except… it’s never really been a question at all in my case. Writing is almost as natural to me as breathing, and we’ve had a tumultuous love-hate relationship ever since I can remember. From novels to plays to short stories about aliens and centaurs, I’ve created a thousand worlds on paper and plan to create thousands more. But this whole “adulting” thing happened and the stories in my head got harder and harder to express, produce, and complete. So that’s where poetry came in to save the day, giving me a more realistically sustainable writing outlet. Perhaps my best-selling novel will still happen one day, but for now, I’m enjoying being a poet in the midst of a hectic, don’t-have-time-to-even-wash-my-hair kinda life. It’s become a form of therapy for me, giving me a reason for reflection, quiet, and creativity. And I’ve found that it’s actually my favorite form of writing now. Poetry has all the magic of music and all the beauty of photography, which is why I feel that blending the three of these together in Creating Coco will be the start one amazing recipe. So whether it be my simple haikus or my more elaborate sonnets and verses, I hope you’ll find in my poems all the comfort and renewal they’ve given me. So go ahead and grab a fuzzy blanket and a cup of warm tea, and together we’ll escape into the rhythms, rhymes, and beautiful lines of poetry.

Love always, Coco
